10 Minute Screenplay Competition

Submit now to the 10 Minute (or less) Screenplay Competition 2018

We intend to continue our British and International film festival awards success with our future script writer winners.

The Prize - As well as the associated publicity, the winning 5 to 10 minute script will receive UK Film Festival Winner's Laurels and will be passed to various production companies for possible production. It should be noted that every year since the competition began the winning script has been optioned and gone into production or pre-production. Three of the writers' resulting films have subsequently gone on to win film festivals around the world i.e. The Berlin Film Festival Crystal Bear for Best Short Film - two years in a row as well as Best in Festival at the Aesthetica Film Festival. The films have been Official Selection in 31 other festivals.

In addition, winners of the 10 Minute Script Competition will receive an InkTip Script Listing: This means a listing of your script on InkTip: where producers go for scripts and writers.

Producers have made more than 300 films from scripts and writers they found through InkTip.

Together with our associates we continue our quest to unearth new talent.

Deadline for email submissions is 9 January 2019.  The administration and reading fee is £33 till May 1 and £35 from May 2.

If you wish to email the script please contact murray@ukfilmfestival.com to arrange a reading and admin fee payment method and to email the script.

The Rules and Guidelines are:

The script should be in English.

The script should be around 5 to 10 pages long in the recommended industry format.

The winner is obliged to agree to grant first option choice for production to the UK Film Festival.

Should there be a need to alter any small aspect of the script when it goes into production the winner should be willing to work with the script editor and/or director to develop the idea. If this should occur the rights to the script still remain with the writer.

The closing date for submissions is 9 January 2019 but is earlier (October) for withoutabox or our other filmfreeway site which is mainly for films but also has a script competition submission category.
